By accessing the Website or submitting an enquiry, you confirm that:

  • You are at least 18 years of age.
  • You have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement.
  • You have read and agree to these terms in full.

If you are arranging a service on behalf of another person (such as an older relative), you also confirm that you have the authority to make that arrangement and to agree to these terms on their behalf where relevant.

Services We Provide

Teman currently offers three services to families in Petaling Jaya and the wider Selangor area:

  • Companionship Visit Coordination — arranging regular friendly visits from a companion for an older relative.
  • Family Coordination & Information Service — developing a written support plan and providing a curated list of local community resources.
  • Technology Connection Help — setting up video calling and messaging on a device and walking the user through its use.

Service availability is subject to geographic coverage within Selangor, staffing capacity, and mutual agreement between you and Teman. We reserve the right to decline an enquiry if we are unable to meet the requirements of a particular household.

Teman does not provide medical, nursing, personal care, or emergency response services. Our services are social and organisational in nature.

4

Your Responsibilities

Accurate information

You agree to provide accurate and complete information when making an enquiry or arranging a service. Misleading or incomplete information may affect our ability to deliver the service safely and appropriately.

Safe environment

Where a service involves a visit to your home, you agree to ensure that the environment is reasonably safe for our staff or companions, and to inform us of any relevant circumstances in advance.

Respectful conduct

You agree that all members of your household will treat Teman staff and companions with courtesy and respect. We reserve the right to withdraw a service if our team is subjected to abusive, threatening, or unreasonable behaviour.

Website use

You agree not to use the Website for any unlawful purpose, to attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the site, or to transmit harmful, offensive, or misleading content through our contact channels.

5

Payment Terms

All prices are quoted in Malaysian Ringgit (RM) and are inclusive of any applicable taxes unless otherwise stated. Current service pricing is listed on our Solutions page.

Payment schedule

The payment schedule and accepted methods will be confirmed in writing before any service begins. We typically require an initial payment or deposit before the first visit or session.

Cancellation and refunds

  • If you cancel before a service has commenced, any deposit paid may be partially or fully refunded depending on the notice given — full details will be set out in your service agreement.
  • If a service is already underway, fees for completed visits or sessions are non-refundable.
  • If Teman is unable to deliver a confirmed session due to circumstances on our side, we will reschedule at no additional cost or offer a proportionate credit.

Late payment

Where invoices remain unpaid beyond the agreed due date, we reserve the right to pause the service until the outstanding amount is settled.

6

Service Delivery Terms

Scope

The scope of each service will be set out in a written service agreement or confirmation before work begins. Any changes to the agreed scope must be discussed and agreed in writing.

Scheduling

Visit and session schedules are confirmed in advance. We ask for at least 48 hours' notice if you need to reschedule. Short-notice cancellations may be subject to the cancellation terms in your service agreement.

Confidentiality

Our team treats all information shared about your household with discretion. We will not share details of your family's situation with third parties except as required to deliver the service or as required by law.

No medical or emergency role

Teman staff and companions are not trained medical professionals. If a medical situation arises during a visit, the companion will contact the relevant emergency services and notify the family. Teman does not accept liability for outcomes in medical emergencies.

7

Intellectual Property

All Content on the Website — including text, design, images, and branding — is owned by or licensed to Teman. You may view and print pages for your own personal, non-commercial use, but you may not reproduce, distribute, or use any Content for commercial purposes without our prior written permission.

The Teman name, logo, and associated marks are proprietary. Nothing in these terms grants you any licence to use them.

8

Disclaimers

The Website and its Content are provided on an "as available" basis. While we take care to keep information accurate and current, we do not warrant that all Content is error-free or complete.

Our services are social and organisational in nature. We do not make any representation about specific outcomes for your relative's wellbeing, health, or social situation as a result of using our services. Results depend on individual circumstances.

Nothing on this Website constitutes medical, legal, or financial advice.

9

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Malaysian law, Teman's total liability to you in connection with any service or use of the Website shall not exceed the amount paid by you for the specific service giving rise to the claim in the 3 months prior to the relevant event.

We are not liable for any indirect, consequential, or incidental loss, including loss of income, loss of data, or damage to property, arising from the use of our services or Website, except where such liability cannot be excluded by law.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.

Force majeure

We are not liable for any failure to perform our obligations due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, pandemics, acts of government, or infrastructure failures. In such cases, we will notify you as soon as practicable and work with you on an appropriate resolution.

10

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Teman, its staff, and its representatives harmless from any claims, losses, damages, or costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these terms, your use of the Website, or any misleading or inaccurate information you have provided to us.

11

Termination

Either party may end a service arrangement by giving reasonable written notice as specified in the service agreement. You may also stop using the Website at any time.

Teman may terminate a service arrangement immediately, without prior notice, if:

  • You breach a material term of these conditions and do not remedy the breach within 7 days of being notified.
  • Our staff or companions are subjected to unsafe or abusive conditions.
  • Payment obligations remain unmet despite reasonable notice.

On termination, fees for completed visits or sessions remain payable. Clauses relating to liability, indemnification, intellectual property, and dispute resolution survive termination.

12

Dispute Resolution

These terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia. The courts of Malaysia shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from or relating to these terms or any service arrangement.

Informal resolution

Before initiating any formal proceedings, both parties agree to attempt to resolve any dispute through direct communication in good faith. Please contact us at [email protected] and we will respond within 14 days.

Mediation

If informal resolution is unsuccessful, either party may refer the matter to a mediator agreed upon by both parties, in accordance with the Mediation Act 2012 (Malaysia), before pursuing litigation.

13

General Provisions

  • Entire agreement — these terms, together with any written service agreement, constitute the entire agreement between you and Teman and supersede all prior communications on the same subject.
  • Severability — if any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, that provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable. All other provisions remain in full effect.
  • Waiver — our failure to enforce any provision of these terms on one occasion does not constitute a waiver of our right to enforce it on another.
  • Assignment — you may not assign your rights or obligations under these terms without our written consent. We may assign our rights and obligations to a successor entity without your consent, provided the successor assumes all obligations under these terms.
  • Notices — notices under these terms may be given by email. Notices to Teman should be sent to [email protected].
14

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If you have an active service arrangement with us at the time of a material change, we will notify you by email before the change takes effect.

Continued use of the Website after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. If you do not accept revised terms, you should stop using the Website and notify us if you wish to discuss the impact on any existing arrangement.
